Es ist das Ende des Traums von einer gerechteren Gesellschaft. 50 Jahre danach erinnert das Allerweltskino an die dramatischen Ereignisse mit dem Dreiteiler „Der Kampf um Chile“. Die Trilogie von Patricio Guzmàn ist ein bewegendes Zeitzeugnis und ein Meisterwerk des Dokumentarfilms.

Auch Teil 2 folgt der Chronologie der Ereignisse. Er dokumentiert die letzte Offensive des Imperialismus und der Bourgeoisie gegen die Volksregierung und auf der anderen Seite die Situation der revolutionären Kräfte, ihre Übereinstimmungen, Diskrepanzen und strategischen Differenzen im Kampf gegen die Putschisten. Der Staatsstreich beginnt am 29. Juni 1973 im Zentrum von Santiago de Chile, als ein faschistisches Regiment den Präsidentenpalast, die Moneda, mit sechs Panzern angreift. Da jedoch die übrigen Streitkräfte die Putschtruppe nicht unterstützen, bricht der Aufstand vorerst zusammen. Von diesem Augenblick an entwickeln die verschiedenen Parteien und Gruppen der Linken zwei unterschiedliche Strategien, um die Krise zu überwinden.

La trilogía de Patricio Guzmàn es un conmovedor testimonio de la época y una obra maestra del cine documental. La segunda parte también sigue la cronología de los acontecimientos. Documenta la última ofensiva del imperialismo y la burguesía contra el gobierno popular y, por otra parte, la situación de las fuerzas revolucionarias, sus acuerdos, discrepancias y diferencias estratégicas en la lucha contra los golpistas. El golpe comienza el 29 de junio de 1973 en el centro de Santiago de Chile, cuando un regimiento fascista ataca el palacio presidencial, la Moneda, con seis tanques. Sin embargo, como el resto de las fuerzas armadas no apoyan a la fuerza golpista, el levantamiento fracasa por el momento. A partir de este momento, los distintos partidos y grupos de izquierda desarrollan dos estrategias diferentes para superar la crisis.

Patricio Guzmàn's trilogy is a moving testimony to the times and a masterpiece of documentary filmmaking. Part 2 also follows the chronology of events. It documents the last offensive of imperialism and the bourgeoisie against the popular government and, on the other hand, the situation of the revolutionary forces, their agreements, discrepancies and strategic differences in the struggle against the coup plotters. The coup began on June 29, 1973, in the center of Santiago de Chile, when a fascist regiment attacked the presidential palace, the Moneda, with six tanks. However, since the rest of the armed forces do not support the coup force, the uprising collapses for the time being. From that moment on, the various parties and groups of the left develop two different strategies to overcome the crisis.
